Roundtable: How would you bet $100 on college football national title race?

It’s a simple question: If you had $100 to set on fire wager on the race for the 2015 college football national title, how would you spend it? That’s what we asked all four members of the Eye on College Football team. Looking at the current national title odds from Bovada* — with the requirements that they had to wager on at least two teams and no more than five, minimum bet of $10 — here’s how each responded: Chip Patterson (5 bets): Ohio State (11/4) $30 … Oregon (22/1) $30 … Baylor (20/1) $20 … Michigan State (20/1) $10 … Georgia (28/1) $10 It’s lame to invest so heavily in the defending champion and the runner-up, but there might be something to having been through the entire playoff experience that could give both teams an advantage in January. The SEC West winner will absolutely be in the mix, but I just don’t feel confident enough to side with Alabama or Auburn, so I’m taking a flyer on Georgia and hoping for the bigger payout. The same goes for Michigan State, my hedge on Ohio State in the event of an unexpected Buckeyes implosion. And here’s my take on Baylor: I think no team in the Big 12, TCU included, has more going for them than the Bears. Seth Russell is going to have a tremendous season, the offensive and defensive lines are stocked, and this is a program with 40 wins over the last four seasons. But losses in the last two bowl games (in particular how each game played out) have me shying away from Baylor as the playoff winner…
