Geneva’s Clutter looking to make his mark at OSU

COLUMBUS — Former Geneva football player Austin Clutter always dreamed of playing for his favorite team on Saturdays — the Ohio State Buckeyes. A standout with the Eagles at wide receiver, defensive back and returner, there was little doubt that Clutter could play at the next level, but playing for the defending national champion Buckeyes? That’s a big dream. It’s also a dream Clutter will realize this fall thanks to his performance over the summer, as he attained preferred walk-on status with Ohio State. “I went to a Friday Night Lights camp down here in Columbus,” Clutter said at Ohio State’s media day at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Sunday. “That’s pretty much what kicked it off. Then me and some of the coaches started talking talking and they offered me preferred walk-on status and I took the opportunity.” Clutter, who spoke Sunday wearing his home scarlet No. 33 jersey, said the choice to go to Ohio State as a walk-on over a smaller school that could offer him a scholarship was an easy one.
