High School Football: GCL and GMC turn top recruits

CINCINNATI — Every year, Cincinnati high schools crank out high-quality football players. This fall, the Class of 2016’s top recruits are highlighted by talented offensive stars from the Greater Catholic League South and secondary stalwarts out of the Greater Miami Conference, with other players from various Tri-State teams also accepting college football scholarships. The GCL South gets offensive The GCL is so notoriously talented that many football fans outside of Cincinnati know of St. Xavier, Moeller, Elder and La Salle. The GCL South might only have four teams, but those rosters are full of talent and, not breaking from tradition, has many seniors poised for Division I collegiate football careers. The La Salle Lancers, entering their third year as a Division II school for OHSSA football playoffs, has four seniors on the 2015 All-Tri-State Football team that are expected to play Division I football next season. Most prominent is running back Jeremy Larkin, a cousin of Barry and member of the celebrated Cincinnati sports family. Larkin, a senior at La Salle, is ranked seventh in the nation at his position, according to Yahoo Rivals.com. He’s verbally committed to stay home and play for the University of Cincinnati. The 5-foot-9-inch running back rushed for 2,584 yards and 38 touchdowns. On his way to the state championship, Larkin rushed for 125 yards against Glen Este, 304 yards versus Harrison, 265 against Mount Healthy, 239 yards against Olentangy, and 104 yards in the championship game versus Nordonia…
