Ohio State fans walked 19 miles around Columbus to spell out ‘Script Ohio’

By: Laken Litman | August 18, 2015 11:52 am Follow @LakenLitman Ohio State fans are clearly antsy for football season start. They’re fresh off a national championship, ready to know who the starting quarterback is going to be, and maybe a little nervous about the road opener against Virginia Tech, who beat the Buckeyes last year. In anticipation for things to get rolling, a group of fans walked 19 miles around Columbus, spelling out “Script Ohio” as the famous marching band does during home games. And they made sure to “dot the i” as per band tradition, on Ohio Stadium. A reddit user, who goes by the name Orweezy, posted that he and his coworkers thought this would be a “cool way to start off the football season” and suggested they make this a tradition for next year, perhaps turn it into a fundraiser. They used the iPhone app Runmeter to track their steps. “We got like 8 miles into it and thought, ‘You know this would have been better if we biked it,’” Orweezy wrote. “It took us six and a half hours of walking but we made a few bar stops — so from 6:30 a.m. through 2:45 p.m. “We were doing a work competition about fitness and the metrics used was time, so we walked everywhere and I think we just carried it over. I would rather bike it next time for sure.” This is what the route looked like: Via Imgur For those wondering, Orweezy said the group met at a friend’s house and “Ubered back and forth” once the march was complete.
