Urban Meyer preaches importance of after-practice juice boxes for Buckeyes

Updated AUG 18, 2015 at 6:55p ET Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer has promised not to let expectations squeeze the fun out of football this fall as the Buckeyes try to defend the national championship. He saw first-hand how that can happen when he took his 2009 Florida team into a season in which the only way to avoid disappointment was going undefeated. “We won 22 straight games, we went undefeated in the Southeastern Conference and it was a miserable year according to people, including myself,” Meyer said last month in Chicago. “That was my fault. We’re not — if we win every game this year, I can assure you it’s not going to be miserable. We won the Sugar Bowl (over Cincinnati) I think by three or four touchdowns, (and people said) ‘What a bad year you had.’ We’re not going to do that. We’re not going to play that game. I’m not talking about outside influences. (That) inside influence will not be there.” Well, what better way to keep things light than to flash back to the days of pee-wee football and post-game snacks in mom’s minivan? We’re not sure how this fits into Meyer’s theme of “The Grind,” but it made us laugh anyway. MORE NEWS: Want stories delivered to you? Sign up for our College Football newsletters.
