Pat Narduzzi claims Ohio State stole Michigan State’s defensive scheme

The college football season hasn’t even started, but former Michigan State defensive coordinator has Pat Narduzzi already has fired shots at Ohio State.

According to Narduzzi, who was hired as Pitt’s head coach in December, Ohio State absconded Michigan State’s defensive plays and used them to secure the inaugural College Football Championship.

“Ohio State’s facing the same problem (against offenses), because they stole our defense, too,” Narduzzi told a radio show in Michigan (via CBS Sports). “There’s a lot of teams throughout the country. You go watch them, they’re exactly us, whether they admit it or not.

“They’re exactly us, and they weren’t before. They won a national championship with the defense.”

Football programs have been known to adopt other teams’ playing style and schemes, but Narduzzi says that Ohio State adopted Michigan State’s defense that hindered run-pass option plays that many offenses use.
