The 2015 season is upon us. But before we look into the crystal ball seeking divine prophecy for the season to come, let’s turn back the clock for a moment and celebrate last season’s inaugural College Football Playoff. With apologies to Baylor and TCU – blame the Big 12 for not having a conference championship game – the four-team playoff provided more intrigue and fairness than the antiquated BCS system did in its best years. The days of a mythical national champion are over. I’ll continue to advocate for an eight-team playoff, but at least college football is heading in the right direction when it comes to crowning its national champion. Will this be the season that Oregon sheds its bridesmaid role and wins its first national title? Will Ohio State repeat as national champions? The Buckeyes are so deep at quarterback that two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Braxton Miller has moved to slot receiver. Will Alabama reclaim the crown after a two-year hiatus and give coach Nick Saban his fifth national championship, tying him with the legendary Paul “Bear” Bryant for the most national titles in college football history? Will Notre Dame join the playoff conversation and break out its green jerseys on a full-time basis…
