Ohio State football: Urban Meyer hints that both quarterbacks could play

Urban Meyer did not reveal who his starting quarterback will be for Monday’s opener at Virginia Tech. Ohio State’s coach stuck to his previously announced decision to reveal the winner of the competition between J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones only “when the first guy takes the snap.” But Meyer, in the first weekly news conference of the 2015 season, was more expansive in detailing how he might use both quarterbacks. Meyer made clear that whoever takes the first snap is not assured of keeping the job permanently, and maybe not even for the entire game. “Sure, absolutely,” he said of the possibility of a mid-game change. “It could be weekly, too. If he had a bad Tuesday practice and … a bad Wednesday, absolutely. That’s not uncommon. That is the same with the other positions as well.
