Michigan State, Ole Miss trend up in NOLA.com Top 8 ranking

There is no understating how much Michigan State’s victory against Oregon means to the Spartans’ College Football Playoff chances. It’s awful early to make that  declaration but if Sparty takes care of business the rest of the way and still loses to Ohio State then this is a definite resume builder. It could mean that a pair of Big Ten teams could end up in the playoff when all is said and done. And if Oregon comes back and claims the PAC-12 title, the Ducks may get left out. But who knows with college football. Michigan State and Oregon could both end up flopping and when November arrives they could be vying for a second tier bowl.
