It has a perfect playoff schedule. It has athletic playmakers on both offense and defense. And it has a backup quarterback trying to carry his team to the top four. In many ways, Notre Dame has what Ohio State had in 2014 — including a shared interest in quarterbacks. Injured Notre Dame starter Malik Zaire and his backup, DeShone Kizer,  were both recruited by the Buckeyes. In fact, Zaire was recruited at the same time as J.T. Barrett. “That was a constant discussion in our staff room, who to offer,” said former Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman, who is now the head coach at Houston.
