Pioneer Press reporter Andy Greder takes a look at this week’s Big Ten football games: SATURDAY ILLINOIS at NORTH CAROLINA, 11 a.m., ESPN2 Prediction: The Fighting Illini, who beat this week’s Gophers opponent, Kent State, 52-3 in the season opener, can’t hang with this Power Five conference team. North Carolina, 35-23 SOUTH FLORIDA at MARYLAND, 11 a.m., ESPNU Prediction: Terrapins quarterbacks Perry Hills and Caleb Rowe combined to throw three interceptions in an unsightly 48-27 loss to Bowling Green last week. Their problems remain. South Florida, 24-20 UNLV at MICHIGAN, 11 a.m., BTN Prediction: The Wolverines are nearly five-touchdown favorites. No, Jim Harbaugh has not returned them to prominence that quick. Rebels, losers of 12 of their past 13 games, are just that bad. Michigan, 40-17 AIR FORCE at No. 4 MICHIGAN STATE, 11 a.m., KSTP-Ch. 5 Prediction: This game pales in comparison with Spartans’ marquee matchup with Oregon last week. But the Falcons’ triple option and 411 yards per game is somewhat intriguing for a good MSU defense. …
