Ohio State football: QB not the only question for Buckeyes

It can’t be dismissed as an aberration anymore. Ohio State wasn’t coming off a short week of preparation, as it was against Hawaii. Against Northern Illinois on Saturday, the Buckeyes didn’t face an exotic defense, even if the Huskies did switch from their standard alignment. And yet an offense that on paper has a plethora of playmakers remains stuck in sludge. Ohio State’s 20-13 victory in front of an uneasy Ohio Stadium crowd gave serious pause to anyone who assumed the 2015 Buckeyes would resemble the juggernaut that won last year’s College Football Playoff. The top-ranked (for now) Buckeyes entered the season with two star quarterbacks. Now there are questions about both. Cardale Jones was benched after throwing two interceptions in the first 16 minutes. J.T. Barrett played the rest of the way, was picked off once, and was far from dazzling overall.
