Urban Meyer has warning for Boston College

Considering Ohio State’s Urban Meyer is always a phone call away, Boston College coach Steve Addazio figured the best way to get a read on a Northern Illinois team that put a very real scare into the defending national champions was to call the Buckeyes coach for the first-person skinny. He asked Meyer, “Hey, give me a little bit of your insight on this team you just played.” Meyer was as nice as he could be. But his team was bursting at the seams with talent and Northern Illinois held it to one offensive touchdown and just 298 total yards. Meanwhile, the Eagles are reeling after the loss of starting quarterback Darius Wade to a season-ending ankle injury. Meyer told Addazio, “You better buckle it up, guy.” Addazio replied to the honest assessment the only way he could, “Appreciate that very much.” With the loss of Wade, a matchup with Northern Illinois that once seemed like one last warm-up before the Atlantic Coast Conference schedule is now more worrisome than the Eagles thought. “They’re really good,” Addazio said of Northern Illinois (2-1). “[Meyer] said they’re really tough, they’re physical, they’re good, they’re well coached, they’re veteran, they’re a good football team.” The proof was in the game film.
