Western Michigan defense preparing for Ohio State’s JT Barrett and Cardale Jones

KALAMAZOO, MI – The old football saying is that if you have two quarterbacks you really have none. In Ohio State’s case, the Buckeyes have a trio of quarterbacks, but the kicker is all three could start on most college football teams across the country. Ohio State (3-0) enters Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. matchup with Western Michigan (1-2) with a bit of a quarterback controversy. Cardale Jones, a third-stringer who took over for injured backup J.T. Barrett last season, was the starter this season but he has struggled at times and was replaced by Barrett in OSU’s 20-13 win over Northern Illinois last week. Last year’s original starter Braxton Miller transitioned to receiver this season. He has five catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. He is also 1-for-1 passing. Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer has a problem a lot of coaches wouldn’t mind dealing with and it’s an issue that might actually create more headaches for opposing defenses. Western Michigan coach P.J. Fleck said Tuesday the Broncos have been preparing in practice to face both Jones (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) and Barrett (6-2, 225) by trying to simulate the size and speed of both quarterbacks using different scout team players…
