Michigan exactly what Spartans, Buckeyes, Big Ten race needed

Michigan isn’t back as in a bona fide College Football Playoff contender yet. That’s the easy knee-jerk reaction after watching the Wolverines throttle No. 22 BYU 31-0 on Saturday.  The Wolverines, however, gave the Big Ten something else to think about other than the top two teams in the country.  Michigan is 3-1 and outscored its last three opponents 91-14 after a season-opening loss to Utah. The Wolverines are improving each week under first-year coach Jim Harbaugh, and they should get back in the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2013.  The Wolverines dominated the Cougars, which ran out of gas after a ridiculous September schedule that included games against Nebraska, Boise State and UCLA.  This game was over by the time De’Veon Smith emerged from a pile-up and took BYU defensive back Michael Davis along for a 60-yard touchdown ride. The Wolverines built a 31-0 halftime lead.  Jake Rudock (14 of 25, 194 yards, TD) rushed for two TDs and didn’t make a mistake.
