As seen in four of the five major conferences, that process has begun. If the season ended today, Utah would be the clear Playoff representative from the Pac-12 Conference. TCU and Baylor have strong cases coming out of the Big 12 Conference. Florida State and Clemson remain unbeaten in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Teams such as Northwestern, California and Oklahoma are strong, top-25 teams, but each was revealed on Saturday as a Playoff pretender. Add this trio to the list of teams no longer in the top group of the championship race — even if, as last year proved, it’s far too early to completely write off any one-loss teams.
