Published: Wednesday, 10/14/2015 COLUMBUS DISPATCH A former Ohio State wide receiver and candidate for the Columbus City Council wants three council members and a former member to pay “the real value” of a trip they took to a Buckeyes football game with a lobbyist. Dimitrious Stanley made that demand today during a campaign event outside Ohio Stadium as crews erected dozens of tents for the Buckeyes’ game against Penn State on Saturday. “There seems to be an ethical tone deafness on Columbus City Council,” he said. “Most of the Indianapolis four did nothing until the Redflex bribery scandal broke and all four of them are yet to do the right thing, pay the real value of what they were given.” None of Stanley’s opponents were on the trip to the Big Ten Championship in Indianapolis. Larry James, the attorney for former Councilwoman Michelle M. Mills, who resigned after the news of the trip came out in July, brushed off Stanley’s comments today. “This guy is in a political race and he’s trying to make noise,” James said. “People are speculating what the fair market value was.” Stanley is one of eight candidates running for four open seats on the council. Four are Democrats: Elizabeth Brown, state Rep. Michael Stinziano, Councilman Zach M. Klein and Councilwoman Jaiza Page, who was appointed this year.
