Penn State Football: Previewing The Opponent: Ohio State

Last Week: Leading into this weekend’s contest Ohio State is coming off a close game against Maryland turned blowout as the Buckeyes went from an early third quarter 21-21 tie to a 49-28 victory. This win is coming only a week removed from a seven point victory over Indiana with the Hoosiers coming just a play shy of tying the game. All in all three of Ohio State’s six wins have either been tied or within a score in the second half. The Good: For one thing Ohio State isn’t without talent. That much is obvious from the outset. Be is Cardale Jones working under center or JT Barrett taking snaps in the redzone. Ezekiel Elliott running with the ball of Braxton Miller working as a wide out. There is a lot of speed and quickness to go around. Perhaps what is most impressive about Ohio State though is the Buckeye’s ability to close out games. So far this season Ohio State has been far from a perfect team, but in each close game the Buckeyes have worn down their opponents and pushed past for the victory. While blowing out your opponent might be more impressive, it’s the ability to always win the challenging games that can be the sign of a championship program…
