College Football Week 8 Opening Odds: Alabama, Ohio State, Baylor Big Favorites

Now up to No. 8 in the Associated Press Top 25, the Alabama Crimson Tide are among the bigger betting favorites on the Week 8 college football odds board at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

The Crimson Tide opened as 14.5-point home favorites against the Tennessee Volunteers for their Saturday matchup, with Alabama coming off a key 41-23 road win over Texas A&M as a five-point favorite over the weekend. That improved the Crimson Tide to 6-1 straight up and 3-4 against the spread on the season heading into their Week 8 date with the Volunteers.

Alabama is riding an eight-game winning streak against Tennessee into their matchup this week, and the Crimson Tide have also paid off on the college football betting lines in 14 of their last 19 games in the month of October, according to the Odds Shark College Football Database. Tennessee is 0-11 in its last 11 games on the road in the month of October.

The Baylor Bears, No. 2 in the AP Top 25, are even bigger home favorites than the Crimson Tide for Week 8. The Bears opened as 37-point favorites on their home turf against the Iowa State Cyclones for Saturday, and they’re coming off a 62-38 win over West Virginia in which they covered a sizable 20.5-point spread.

In fact, Baylor has put up at least 56 points in each of its first six games of the season and has covered the posted spread at the sportsbooks in each of its last four outings. Baylor is 18-2 SU and 15-5 ATS in its last 20 home games headed into Saturday’s expected mismatch.

And the Bears are looking to knock the Ohio State Buckeyes off their perch atop the AP Top 25, with Ohio State opening as a 20.5-point road favorite against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights for Week 8. Ohio State picked up its first cover since Week 1 of the season last time out, beating Penn State 38-10 as an 18-point betting favorite. The Buckeyes carry a 20-game SU winning streak into the weekend.
