NFL Draft: Ohio State’s Cardale Jones, Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg stock dropping

(Rich Schultz /Getty Images)Through eight weeks of the season, many throughout college football have earned the adulation of fans, the approval of analysts and, perhaps most importantly, the attention of NFL scouts. Although LSU running back Leonard Fournette isn’t draft eligible, he has put himself in the Heisman conversation. Wide receiver Corey Coleman (Baylor) and Josh Doctson (TCU) have seen their draft prospects rise. Ole Miss left tackle Laremy Tunsil has played all of one game, but he solidified his status as a top pick based on that performance against Texas A&M star Myles Garrett last week in Oxford. Then there are the players who entered the season with high expectations that they have not yet met. Let’s start with the quarterbacks. Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg has thrown 10 touchdowns and no interceptions in his past five games. On the surface, that appears like significant progress.
