Illini host Ohio State for last Memorial Stadium game of season

Illinois could accomplish plenty by beating Ohio State on Saturday. A victory would secure bowl eligibility for the second straight season. It would help bolster interim coach Bill Cubit’s resume. It would be the most signature win since the Illini last beat the Buckeyes in 2007. Of course, this is all a stretch given the way undefeated No. 3 Ohio State (9-0, 5-0) has played. Illinois (5-4, 2-3) is coming off an impressive 48-14 victory against Purdue after running back Josh Ferguson returned to the lineup. Fast Fergy Ferguson is coming off a 133-yard game against the Boilermakers. Freshman Ke’Shawn Vaughn posted 180 yards.
