Ohio State Buckeyes Shouldn’t Look Past Illinois

Clemson boasts an unblemished record, has outstanding balance on both offense and defense and just knocked off a talented, deep and experienced Florida State team. Alabama, even despite that loss to Ole Miss a few weeks back, is playing as well anyone in the nation at the moment, has perhaps the best defensive front seven that we’ve seen in a decade, and just did what many thought impossible—shut down LSU tailback Leonard Fournette. Baylor hasn’t played anybody, no, but have dispatched every opponent it has played with ease—and at 9-0 on the season, is undoubtedly one of the nation’s best. Oklahoma State has a strong case to make for No. 1. Notre Dame, who was oh-so-close to toppling No. 1 Clemson on a rainy night in Death Valley, does, too. Heck, even Iowa can make an argument. Despite not getting much respect nationally, that team has done everything asked of them thus far this season—including scoring solid wins over Pitt, Northwestern and Wisconsin. And then, of course, there is Ohio State, a team that continues to frustrate its fans and confound the media—for obvious reasons…
