Ohio State Football Must Prove They Deserve To Be In Top Four

Greg Bartram- USA TODAY Sports The Ohio State Buckeyes are undoubtedly a good team, the Big Ten favorite, and undefeated. They are currently ranked third in the College Football Playoff, exactly where they were last year when they went on a run to win the national title. Do the Buckeyes deserve to be there? After all, they haven’t beat a top 25 team this year, they seem to struggle on a weekly basis, and their quarterbacks haven’t performed like they did last year. When the playoff committee meets to compile the top 25, they aren’t supposed to look at last year. Therefore, Ohio State being the national champions last year should not reflect on their ranking this year, yet it does. The eye test is one thing the committee needs to look at, Ohio State fails the eye test, much like J.T. Barrett failed his breathalyzer. Statistically, the Buckeyes have dropped in both total offense and total defense compared to last year. Year to date, Ohio State ranks 33rd in the country in total offense, down 24 spots from last year. Much of that can be put on the loss of Tom Herman as offensive coordinator as he left to take the head coaching position at the University of Houston. Losing Herman is a big deal for the Buckeyes, as the offense hasn’t really clicked all year, and the defense has bailed them out most games. …
