Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook out against Ohio State

If Michigan State is going to pull off the upset over Ohio State and keep its Big Ten title hopes alive, it will have to do so without its starting quarterback. There was a lot of speculation about whether Connor Cook would play for Michigan State. He hurt his throwing shoulder last week against Maryland and sat out much of the game. After warming up before Saturday’s game, Michigan State wasn’t happy with what it saw from Cook — particularly the velocity on his throws — and decided it was best to go in a different direction. The Spartans will be going with a quarterback by committee. Damion Terry, who had never started a game before Saturday, got the start, but fellow backup Tyler O’Connor also saw snaps on the first drive. Both will play throughout the game. Michigan State’s all-time winningest quarterback won’t play against Ohio State. (USATSI)
