It’s been a long time since Michigan’s been able to even be competitive in its rivalry series with Ohio State. The Buckeyes have won nine of the last 11 meetings; the Wolverines haven’t won in back-to-back seasons since 1999 and 2000. What used to be considered the strongest rivalry in college football now routinely takes a back seat to rivalries like Auburn-Alabama. I have better things to do than debate which rivalry is a bigger deal, but it just goes to show where we are, and it’s Michigan’s fault. Everyone knew that the tides turned when Michigan hired Jim Harbaugh after last season, but that only means the Wolverines are on their way to making this a more competitively balances series; and hopefully the Ohio State dominance is coming to an end—or at least maybe it won’t be so lopsided. Michigan has exceeded most everyone’s expectations this season with a 9-2 record heading into this game. Jake Rudock has gone from being a living, breathing turnover machine to a very efficient quarterback who’s making a lot better decisions and sometimes making your jaw drop.
