Michigan-Ohio State hockey postgame brawl nets suspensions

ANN ARBOR — Michigan will be without defenseman Cutler Martin for three games after the sophomore was handed a suspension for his part in Sunday’s postgame brawl with rival Ohio State, according to a school official. Additionally, forward Dexter Dancs will miss two games for his role in the skirmish that broke out following Michigan’s 8-6 win over Ohio State at Yost Ice Arena. Soon after the final whistle blew Sunday, players from both teams came together as emotions boiled over. In total, 16 penalties were handed out after the last horn, divided evenly among the two sides. Rising to his feet, Martin threw an additional flurry of punches at Kearney, including one that seemed to bounce his head off the ice. The Wolverines cited for roughing following the brawl included Martin, Dancs, Cooper Marody, Tony Calderone and Nicholas Boka. Alex Kile was also penalized for leaving the bench.
