Purdue Men’s Basketball: Boilers face Ohio State tonight

The Purdue men’s basketball team hosts the Ohio State Buckeyes this Thursday at 9 p.m. in Mackey Arena. Ohio State currently stands at 12-7 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten. Ohio State is looking to bounce back after a brutal 100-65 loss at Maryland on Saturday. Purdue is currently at 16-3 overall and also holds a 4-2 conference record. The Boilers are coming off a dominant win over a struggling Rutgers team. Buckeye point guard JaQuan Lyle has helped electrify the Ohio State offense in his first year. The freshman has started every game for the Buckeyes and is one of four players on the roster to average double-digit scoring per game on the season. When asked about Lyle and what exactly his ability to score and collect rebounds presents in the matchup with Purdue, Purdue senior guard Rapheal Davis said, “He is just another challenge for us. Any player in the Big Ten is a good player, and you wouldn’t be a point guard in the Big Ten if you weren’t. “He’s bigger and he’s got some size to him, but we just have to box him out and get into him. Ohio State is a good team. We just got to go out there and just play hard and play good defense.” Historically, competition between the Buckeyes and the Boilermakers has been strong.
