Jeff Heuerman, the Broncos forgotten tight end

There has been talk that the Broncos need to address the tight end position in the upcoming NFL draft. Owen Daniels will turn 34 during the 2016 season, and he was a big part of the Broncos passing offense last year, coming in third on the team with 46 catches for 517 yards and three scores. He was huge in the postseason, as well, making his catches count and scoring two touchdowns, just one shy of that season total, in the playoffs. While Denver could address the position at some point, it’s not actually as thin as it appears, even if Daniels decided to retire—which he hasn’t done—or if Denver wanted to get younger at the position. After all, Denver took a tight end in the third round of the 2015 Draft: Jeff Heuerman. Heuerman played at Ohio State University, helping them win the National Title just two years ago. He’s very used to top-tier competition, and he’s a guy the Broncos were targeting before the draft began. When they could still get him in the third, they jumped at the chance. The reason everyone has forgotten him, unfortunately, is that he blew out his knee in camp last year. The Broncos signed him to a deal anyway and got him started on rehab. …
