Holtz, Bruce and 2500 students make Student Appreciation Day special

COLUMBUS — A pair of Hall of Fame coaches, 2,500 students and a host of soon-to-be-drafted Buckeyes made the 2016 Student Appreciation Day a special one at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Former Buckeyes Eli Apple and Michael Thomas were among the recently departed Bucks on hand for the fifth such occasion catering to the OSU students. Apple and company await the NFL Draft in Chicago April 28th. “I’ve never seen anything like this student appreciation day,” Hall of Fame coach and Meyer mentor Lou Holtz told the crowd. “This is unique. It’s great. And I’m proud to be back here because Ohio State is special. The state of Ohio is special. I think this day is special and I think this team is going to be special.” About 12 rows deep of students sat and stood across the 30 yard line and watched about an hour’s worth of scrimmage action by the team. Free food was provided by Rooster’s and Meijer. There was a fastest student race held once again and there was a post-practice autograph and photo session with the coaches and players. …
