Kentucky recruit Urban Meyer called ‘insubstantial’ will make Ohio State coach regret it

In the “I can’t believe… yes, I can believe this happened” department, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer made a 6-7, 270-pound tackle feel pretty small.  Four-star recruit Landon Young apparently did not get any warm Midwest hospitality fuzzies while visiting the Buckeye state. He eventually received an offer by Ohio State but he was curious about the timing of it. “Well coach, back when I was just committing to Kentucky and keeping my options open, I came up to a camp and sent you my film and everything, and you didn’t even reply,” Young allegedly said to Meyer.  “It seemed like y’all just deleted it.” Meyer, according to Young, responded by telling him he was “an insubstantial tackle, an insubstantial player.” When Meyer asked him what offers he had received at that time, Young told him he had received one from Kentucky.  “Well, you were an insubstantial player with insubstantial offers from an insubstantial school,” Meyer replied. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition of insubstantial is “not large or important.” At 6-7, 270, Young is large.
