Burrow takes advantage

COLUMBUS — It was supposed to be a pressure-packed, ‘Let’s see what you can do’ day for Joe Burrow. Burrow, the 2015 Athens High School graduate, treated it like any other game he’s played. In other words, he crushed it. Burrow completed 14 of 23 throws for 196 yards and three touchdowns as his Gray squad defeated their Scarlet counterparts 28-17 in the annual Ohio State spring game Saturday afternoon inside Ohio Stadium. The former Bulldog dazzled at times in the biggest day for the Buckeyes of the spring. Burrow entered the spring game slotted as the No. 2 quarterback on the Buckeyes’ roster. As Ohio State heads toward the summer months, Burrow has a firm grip on the position now despite the imminent arrival of Dwayne Haskins — another QB recruit that Urban Meyer raved about on signing day. “Joe Burrow has been coming on,” Meyer said. “He was a guy that last year I had my concerns (with) just arm strength, to release, twitch, ability to run the ball. “He’s gotten better and better,” OSU’s head coach continued. …
