Ohio State’s 2015 recruiting class didn’t pan out as expected. But things could be different in 2016. From a rankings perspective, Ohio State’s 2016 recruiting class might be a step back from 2015, but fans are hoping to see early results from the new additions. The class is ranked No. 8 in the Big Ten by 247Sports and features three intriguing commitments for Thad Matta’s team. One member of the class who has been turning heads is Derek Funderburk. Although Funderburk isn’t in the discussion with players like Josh Jackson, he’s still a four-star prospect according to 247Sports, ranked in the top 70, and considered to be one of the best players out of the state of Ohio in 2016. Notably, those rankings also make him Ohio State’s top prospect in its incoming class. Funderburk largely relies on his athleticism and length to make plays.
