Ohio State’s standards don’t change, even if yours do

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State coach Urban Meyer wanted to talk to somebody before Saturday’s spring game, so he walked up to Michael Jordan. We’re talking about the 6-7, 316-pound guard, of course. Meyer said the freshman said he was nervous, perhaps because a record crowd of 100,189 at Ohio Stadium eye-balling from the stands. It might be his most-interesting coaching challenge to date. The Buckeyes replace 16 starters, including nine that left early for the NFL Draft. Yet Meyer’s temperament was far different at this year’s spring game than last year, when he graded the spring with an, “Eh.
