Behind the scenes as Buckeyes prepare for NFL Draft

(WCMH Photo) CHICAGO (WCMH)–The NFL Draft begins Thursday, and 14 former Ohio State Buckeye football players are waiting anxiously to see what their future holds. Joey Bosa, Eli Apple, Ezekiel Elliott, Darron Lee and Taylor Decker earned invitations to the draft, meaning they are likely to be selected in the first round. Twenty-five total players were invited along with 10 current NCAA head coaches. NBC4 sports director Jerod Smalley and photographer Mike Klug are in the Windy City and will be bringing you in-depth coverage as the draft progresses. One former Buckeye that all of us at NBC4 are keeping a close eye on is former linebacker Darron Lee, whose mom Candice is a reporter and anchor for NBC4. Jerod talked to both Darron and Candice on Wednesday. Darron told NBC4 earlier that he was already feeling nervous about the big day Thursday. Candice affirmed his statement, and chatted with Jerod about her busy schedule as a mom and if the emotion of seeing her son become a professional football player has hit her yet. Vonn Bell, Michael Thomas, Braxton Miller, Adolphus Washington, Joshua Perry, Nick Vannett, Tyvis Powell, Cardale Jones, and Jalin Marshall are the other Buckeye names to listen for in subsequent rounds on Friday and Saturday.
