CHICAGO — Ohio State broke a record with 10 players selected in the first three rounds of the NFL draft Friday. After five Buckeyes were chosen in the first round Thursday, five more went on Day 2 in Rounds 2-3: defensive lineman Adolphus Washington, wide receivers Michael Thomas and Braxton Miller, safety Vonn Bell and tight end Nick Vannett. The previous record (8) was held by Tennessee from the 2000 draft. The pick of Miller was the record breaker; he went to the Houston Texans with the No. 85 overall choice. With a record 14 players invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, Ohio State’s presence in the 2016 draft figured to challenge for the most players drafted from one school since the Buckeyes themselves placed 14 players in the 2004 draft. The record for the most players from one school taken in a single draft is held by Texas (17, 1984 draft).
