The Opening regional report: Columbus Pt. 2

During the weekend’s highly competitive camp, Nike handed out several invitations to The Opening. Among those invited were a host of athletes from Michigan, but several other standout prospects hauled in invites as well. Matt Dotson — Tight end –Arcbishop (Oh.) Moeller Out of all tight ends in attendance at The Opening regional, Matt Dotson may have been the most physically impressive. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 235-pounds, Dotson is a useful chess piece in both the passing and running game thanks to his willingness to block, but he does have some trouble taking on lead blocks. As a result, Dotson will need to fill out a bit more before reaching college, but the four-star prospect is clearly a mismatch on the outside with his ball skills and ability to run with the ball after the catch. With 20 offers to his name, 247Sports.com‘s No. 9 tight end has a plethora of options in terms of which college he will play football at. Most of the traditional Midwest powers have offered already, and Dotson has visited Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State in the past month. With an Opening invitation to his name, Dotson also has scholarships from Southern powers such as Arkansas, Auburn and Florida. Jamyest Williams — Cornerback — Lawrenceville (Ga.) Grayson Commonly regarded as one of the nation’s top defensive back prospects in the 2017 class, Georgia native Jamyest Williams is as stingy of a corner as they come. Although he dominated on offense in 2015 to the tune of 1,250 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns, Williams has exceptional agility, a fluid backpedal and hip mobility on par with the top recruits in his class. Williams is a polished cornerback who reads quarterbacks well and often jumps passes for deflections or interceptions…
