Rutgers offers Ohio LB Edward Warinner, son of Ohio State coach

Wednesday, Rutgers extended an offer to class of 2018 Olentangy Liberty (Powell, Ohio) linebacker Edward Warinner, son of Ohio State offensive coordinator and tight ends coach who goes by the same name. Multiple members of the Rutgers  staff, including head coach Chris Ash, special teams coordinator Vince Okruch, strength coach Kenny Parker and offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer, have at one point, worked on the Ohio State staff, so they have connections to the Warinners. “After the season, I sent them my film. We know, sort of, the Rutgers staff a little bit, and once the 2016s got out of the way, and the staff got everything settled in, they kind of got caught up,” Warinner, the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder, told NJ.com. “And with looking at the 2018s, coach (Vince) Okruch came Friday and watched us work out and talked to my coach. And from what my coach said, [Rutgers] had interest and [Okruch] really liked what he saw. And then I was told to expect a phone call on Monday or Tuesday. And that’s when they called and they offered.”  Warinner, who also holds offers from Army, Buffalo, Central Michigan and Ohio, has a high opinion of the Big Ten East, a conference occupied by Rutgers and Ohio State. “The Big Ten East is big boy football now,” Warinner said. “I mean, that’s my favorite division in college football.
