Darrell Simpson will visit Ohio State (Part 1)

With the class of 2018 collectively entering its junior season in the fall of 2016, many elite-level talents are being identified at this stage of the cycle. Among them is Justin (Tx.) Northwest offensive tackle Darrell Simpson, a 6-foot-7, 320-pound mauler with a bevy of upside attached to his powerful frame. Powerhouse colleges across the country are well aware of Simpson’s talent, and the 2018 prospect holds 11 scholarship offers up to this point. Most recently, Simpson picked up an offer from Ohio State earlier in the week and the Buckeyes are a program that have shown interest for some time now. “I’ve been talking to them,” Simpson told Today’s U. “They came down, I think, three weeks ago and they were talking to me. I gave coach [Tim] Beck a call and I was always talking with coach Beck. He wanted me to get on the phone with coach [Urban] Meyer to get all comfortable with them, then coach Meyer gave me the offer.” Now that Simpson has an offer from Ohio State under his belt, the four-star recruit quickly rearranged his schedule to fit in a trip to Columbus for a weekend that previously booked, showing his reciprocated interest in the Buckeyes’ program. “We were supposed to go to the Rivals Underclassmen event at the Falcons stadium on June 11th, but we will be going to Ohio State on June 12th,” Simpson said. During this trip, Simpson indicated that he would be most interested in getting to know the coaches and observing their style of teaching. That, when joined with a tour of the facilities, will answer many of the questions Simpson has regarding the school. Other schools that he is already familiar with, though, include TCU, Texas A&M and Baylor. …
