Ohio State football | Schmidt leaving OSU program, Felder’s arrival delayed

The Ohio State football program announced this morning that offensive lineman Grant Schmidt will transfer and cornerback Kareem Felder will not enroll this summer or fall. Those omissions from the roster leave the Buckeyes at 84 scholarship players, one under the limit required by the fall. Believed to be the first Buckeye recruit from South Dakota, Schmidt was unable to break from the pack during spring practice this year after being an early-enrollee freshman in 2015. Ohio State’s team spokesman said Schmidt intends to continue his career at another school. A member of the 2016 recruiting class, Felder is expected to enroll at prep school before coming to Ohio State. He is a three-star recruit from Baltimore. Felder switched his commitment to Ohio State last May after originally committing to Virginia Tech. Brabinowitz@dispatch.com @brdispatch
