Five-star quarterback Tate Martell released his top schools and visit dates four weeks after decommitting from Texas A&M. A month ago 5-star prospect Tate Martell turned the recruiting trail upside down when he decommitted from Texas A&M. The decision by the nation’s No. 1 quarterback to back off his pledge to the Aggies preceded some misguided tweets from Texas A&M wide receivers coach Aaron Moorehead and a second decommitment for the Aggies in as many days.Now, Martell has moved on from all of that and is ready to continue his recruitment.The Las Vegas prospect released his top schools, and there are a few surprising candidates on the list.The Ohio State Buckeyes were expected to make the list considering the fact that Martell’s father and grandfather both attended Ohio State. The nation’s No. 12 overall player called the Buckeyes his “dream school” when he took an unofficial visit to Columbus earlier this year.Alongside Urban Meyer’s squad is Mark Richt’s Miami Hurricanes, USC, UCLA and Cal. Two of the more surprising squads are West Virginia and Colorado.The Mountaineers got into the game relatively late, having offered Martell on May 10. The Buffaloes put their offer on the table on April 28.While the Buckeyes appear to be the favorite, it’s hard to look past the big three from the state of California.The history and tradition associated with the Trojans program is self-explanatory. USC has produced a lot of NFL quarterbacks over the years, the most recent being Cody Kessler, whom the Cleveland Browns selected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.But the Bruins and Golden Bears have interesting stakes in Martell’s recruitment.Josh Rosen appears to be college football’s next superstar, and could very well end up being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
