Recruiting notes: Grimes among standouts as fave suitor Buckeyes visit

He missed Michigan’s stop at St. Thomas Aquinas earlier this month, but Raiders senior Trevon Grimes made a five-star appearance at Ohio State’s satellite camp at Brian Piccolo Stadium on Thursday. The Buckeyes, after all, have long held favored status among Grimes’ suitors. The fifth-ranked receiver prospect in the nation, Grimes said he and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer have developed a bond over the past three years. “I feel like they saw it in me even when I didn’t see it in myself, offering me as a freshman,” Grimes said. At 6-foot-3 and 202 pounds, Grimes has the size, athleticism and speed worthy of his five-star rating. The All-County wideout has excelled at track since middle school and was the Sun Sentinel’s Track Athlete of the Year as a junior after winning back-to-back state titles in the 300-meter hurdles.
