Looking at Greg Schiano's past defenses

Last week, Bucknuts took a look at Ed Warinner’s past successes as an offensive coordinator, digging into the numbers during his stops at Army, Kansas, and last year at Ohio State. While Warinner presents a “new face” on the offensive side of the ball heading into 2016, the Buckeyes brought in Greg Schiano to replace Chris Ash and work alongside Luke Fickell in running the defense. Schiano is known across football circles as a “defensive mastermind”, as he played his college football as a linebacker for Bucknell and has spent his entire 26 year coaching career on that side of the ball at both the NFL and college levels. For as long as he is in Columbus, Schiano will be in charge of the secondary and will be co-defensive coordinator, holding an important role in making sure the Silver Bullets continue where they left off last season, or improve to become the most dominant defense in college football. If the new OSU coach’s track record, says anything, Buckeyes fans will certainly be happy while Schiano is in town, as his past successes at Miami as defensive coordinator, and then as head coach of Rutgers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers show that he is more than capable of building some of the best defenses at all levels that the game is played.
