Going Big on Blue: Betting on Michigan's Chances in 2016


The last 9 seasons of Michigan Wolverines football…………….has been a nightmare. If you want to see how one game can transform a program, App State upsetting Michigan was it. So let’s go back a bit.  After a 2006 year where the Wolverines were removed from a few plays of beating Ohio State en route to a Big Ten championship and a National Championship game berth, Michigan entered 2007 had high hopes and started at #5 in the nation.  It should have been a cakewalk with beating 1-AA/FCS Appalachian State.  And then the Mountaineers did the unthinkable: beat Michigan.  The Wolverines would lose their second one, but actually rebounded to win 9 of their final 11 games (though the stinger was losing to Ohio State).  However, the App. State loss did its damage.  Lloyd Carr was retiring by the end of the season (and some speculated his struggles against the Buckeyes since 2001 and the App. State loss that he was pushed out the door).  Rich Rodriguez came in and failed miserably as he alienated pretty much anybody in Ann Arbor from boosters to players to fans with his methods and pretty much tried to change the landscape in Ann Arbor…
