Amir Riep becomes commitment #16 for Class of 2017

ShareTweetThe Buckeyes gained their 16th commitment of the class of 2017 today when Amir Riep of Colerain High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) verbally gave his pledge on his birthday. Riep is the third defensive back to commit in this class, and he, Shaun Wade, and Marcus Williamson make up a trio of four-star recruits to join the Buckeyes’ impressive 2017 recruiting class. He’s the third player to commit to the Buckeyes this weekend, joining fellow 2017 classmate Chase Young and future 2018 teammate Brian Snead. Riep was one of the hottest prospects this spring and summer, accumulating nearly 50 offers due to his relentless camp performances. He vaulted up the recruit boards and currently sits as the #3 prospect in the state of Ohio and #114 in the nation. Riep earned his offer during Junior day at Ohio State this past January, and he immediately placed the Buckeyes at or near the top of his list. Michigan State was long thought to be the second team in the race, and, for a while there, it looked like he might go to the Spartans.
