Big Ten Preseason Power Rankings: Ohio State edges Michigan

J.T. Barrett and the Buckeyes are in for a battle against the Wolverines this season.  Aug 14, 2016 Football season begins next week. Get excited! Before things kick off, we present our preseason Big Ten power rankings. Expect things to change a lot, quickly. But for now, here’s how we see the 2016 pecking order: 1. Ohio State (three first-place votes): Yes, the Buckeyes have only six returning starters. But they have the best quarterback in the conference in J.T. Barrett. And a slew of blue-chippers. And Urban Meyer, who has lost only one — one! — regular-season Big Ten game. 2. Michigan (two first-place votes): The Wolverines probably will open the year ranked higher in the polls than the Buckeyes, and it was a close call for our panel on who should be in first. An experienced roster, the second year of Jim Harbaugh and a highly favorable early schedule all point to good things for Michigan. 3.
