MADISON, Wisconsin ā€“ Years ago, when broadcaster Chris Schenkel would say college football embodied “all the color and pageantry of an autumn afternoon,” he probably had the Wisconsin campus in mind. Sailboats tack on Lake Mendota, just a terrifying kickoff or two by the Badgers’ P.J. Roskowski away from Camp Randall Stadium, and a red and gold drift of leaves leads visitors past the bomb-sniffing dog outside the wrought iron gate. Behind it, the visitor tramps up two ramps and a flight of stairs and out into a madhouse red setting that belongs to the slasher flicks and fright night movies coming up on Halloween. In literally the last minutes of the 11th hour, Ohio State, outplayed, outcoached and outhit in the entire first half, down by 10 points, came back to beat Wisconsin, 30-23, in overtime. Ohio State is 56-4 overall under Urban Meyer and 4-0 in overtime with him as coach. Saturdays in bedlam It is always tough on Saturday night in Mad Town.
