Ohio State midseason review: Urban Meyer's youngsters thriving in a hurry

11:06 AM ET So much for inexperience being a problem at Ohio State . The Buckeyes are up and running again without any signs of slowing down, replacing a record-setting draft class and a huge batch of early departures while continuing to win. Even with just six returning starters at the beginning of the season, they have vaulted up to No. 2 in the country, remain unbeaten (despite a pair of road tests for those young kids) and are poised to make another run at the College Football Playoff. There is, of course, a massive edition of The Game on the schedule. But that’s a discussion for later in the second half, and it wouldn’t be generating nearly as much buzz if the Buckeyes hadn’t handled their own business they way they did in the first half of the season. The dominant victory over Oklahoma showed how much talent had been waiting behind those 12 NFL draft picks, and the gritty overtime thriller at Wisconsin proved Ohio State can handle adversity.
