Wednesday’s installment of Penn State notes takes a look at the 2016 version of Urban Meyer’s Ohio State Buckeyes, looks at the quarterback that will invade Beaver Stadium on Saturday, and concludes with a new NFL note related to the Lions. Barkley on the Buckeyes Before he ran for 196 yards against Ohio State a year ago, Penn State running back Saquon Barkley knew he could play at the FBS level. His performance against the Buckeyes simply confirmed that while serving as a confidence boost. Penn State lost that day, 38-10, in Columbus, but it wasn’t for a lack of success on the ground. And, if the Lions are to keep this year’s edition more competitive, they will need Barkley to be successful again, this time against a unit the sophomore thinks might be improved compared to the one he ran all over a year ago. “You can tell they’re younger, and you can see some of the mistakes that they have on film,” Barkley said.
