Ohio High School Athletic Association 'disappointed' by Big Ten's decision to play Friday night games

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Big Ten announced on Wednesday that it will begin playing Friday night games in September and October next season as part of its new TV deal with ESPN and FOX. That’s new and exciting for some people, and the conference bucking tradition — which isn’t always a bad thing. But not everyone likes this move. The majority of those folks are Ohio State fans. Something that could keep some folks from going out to see their local high school, obviously we’re not going to be thrilled with that.” Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith told the Columbus Dispatch that the Buckeyes have agreed to play one Friday home game every three years, and only when the university is on fall break in October.
