Nebraska QB Tommy Armstrong injured as Nebraska trails Ohio State at halftime

No. 10 Nebraska did not have the first half they wanted in their clash against No. 6 Ohio State, as the Cornhuskers entered halftime down 31-3 to the Buckeyes and lost veteran leader Tommy Armstrong to a very serious injury midway through the second quarter. The quarterback was just 4-of-15 for 74 yards on the night but suffered a scary injury when his head slammed into the turf as he scrambled out of bounds. Armstrong had a neck brace put on and was carted off the field to a nearby ambulance, where he was taken to a local hospital for additional tests. Fans at the Horseshoe chanted “Tommy! Tommy!” as Armstrong was moved off the field, with the signal-caller giving a thumbs up shortly before being loaded into the ambulance with his family. The school quickly released a statement saying that Armstrong was knocked unconscious but was moving all extremities and was talking with medical personnel. Senior Ryker Fyfe took over under center for the Cornhuskers and appears to be the guy going forward for the rest of the night. On the opposite sideline, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett threw for 123 yards and two touchdowns as the offense operated relatively efficiently through the air and on the ground.…
